Bethany opened Sukha Yoga to create a sanctuary in Novato where people can practice yoga, experience different healing modalities and be in spiritual community. She has been a practicing psychologist for the past 19 years, but felt isolated in private practice. In 2012, she went to visit John of God, a healer in Brazil. She received a vision to open a yoga studio and healing center.
She has found the greatest joy in creating a strong and loving community of wonderful students, yoga teachers and healers who come together and share their gifts.
Lesley Desaulniers is known for her energizing, soulful and inspiring classes. Her gift for storytelling and passionate connection to music and art make each class a dynamic journey of sound, spirit and soul. She was trained in yoga under the expert guidance of Sharon Gannon and David Life of Jivamukti Yoga, and is one of Northern California's most in demand teachers.
Lesley has been studying yoga and meditation since 1996. Lesley continues to study, practice, and teach daily. Her classes are imbued with a rare blend of sweaty Vinyasa, scholarly study, spiritual awareness, and good humor. Lesley feels thankful for the many wonderful teachers she has encountered along the path.
Vicka took her first yoga class as a college student and found it beneficial but her life at that time took her in another direction. She eventually felt the call to return to yoga after having 2 kids in her early thirties.
Being a full time mom of 3 kids and a licensed psychologist, she was not planning on becoming a teacher. However, after directly experiencing the powerful benefits of a regular practice, Vicka felt compelled to share the transformative gift of yoga with others. Vicka embraces yoga as therapy for both the mind and the body, integrating mindfulness into her practice and teachings, while offering yoga to help balance life’s daily challenges.
Erika's classes use breath and alignment to enlighten different parts of the body or work toward a specific pose. She enjoys teaching the intricacies of the poses, making sure you get the most benefits out of your practice. She’s nurturing and playful while offering options to deepen or modify poses to suit students of all levels.
Erika is a RTY-500 Yoga Alliance Certified teacher. Finding yoga 5 years ago in her own quest for self-love and happiness, she now hopes to inspire her students the same way through mind-body connection, self-study and different practices.
Cara is a Florida native just gaining ground in San Francisco's beautiful Bay Area. Cara has been practicing yoga for over a decade and teaching for 6 years, holding an E-RYT 200hr certification with Yoga Alliance. Although Cara has been on the mat for over a decade she will never forget the day she started practicing. Through yoga, Cara has been able to heal wounds from major trauma's, heal neck injuries & torn ligaments, relieve depression & anxiety, calm everyday stress, and most importantly realize her full potential. Cara's classes are designed to allow you to make your practice and your mat your sturdy foundation, a sacred space that you can always receive from.
A California native, Tara has always led a physically active lifestyle finding enjoyment in everything from dance to organized sports. She has always been a seeker, exploring spirituality from many angles with the hope of finding a framework that deeply resonated with her. When she discovered yoga it was as if she had found a missing piece to the puzzle of her life: a physical practice that left her feeling strong and challenged coupled with spiritual teachings that left her curious and inspired.
Tara teaches a vigorous Vinyasa class that includes thoughtful sequencing, hands-on assists, meditation, spirited music and teachings. She creates a lighthearted environment for students to experience joy, ease, positive transformation and the many other gifts of a regular yoga practice.
Sharlene Schneier has been a dedicated yoga practitioner since 2003 and a certified yoga instructor (RYT 500-registered Yoga Alliance) since 2005. She teaches a blend of Hatha yoga styles which her students describe as “enriching, healing, calming, thorough and joyfully expressed.” Her classes emphasize breath-based, foundational postures, alignment, strength, flexibility and balance.

Kat fell in love with Yoga after her first class in college. Throughout her life, she has held it close to her heart, even though her practice waxed and waned. Several years ago, she made a conscious choice to make yoga a bigger part of her life. She became disciplined. Since then, she has witnessed her body, mind and heart opening in many new ways. She is an RYT500 hours certified teacher. She is also an licensed marriage and family therapist with a speciality in grief. Kat offer classes to build strength, increase flexibility & balance, as well as breath work to help still the mind and reduce stress. Every time we practice, we are one step closer to experiencing greater well-being.
Charlene is inspired by her passion to teach and nurture others. Her classes flow with breath and with an emphasis on safe alignment. With love and compassion she helps her students find a quieter state of mind and therefore a deeper sense of relaxation.
Her certifications include Yoga Alliance 200RYT with Ana Forrest, Yin Yoga with Sarah Powers, Restorative Yoga with Judith Hanson Lasater, Yoga Alliance 500RYT with Yogaworks mentors Erika Trice and Eka Ekong and Chair Yoga with Lakshmi Voelker. Charlene is grateful to her teachers, John Berlinsky and Lea Watkins for their love and support in her own personal practice of Ashtanga Mysore.
Elizabeth Shelhart has been practicing yoga and Buddhist meditation for over 20 years and has been teaching since 2001. She infuses her classes with reverence and kindness toward the body as well as the mind. Within the journey of yoga, Elizabeth knows personally how transformative these lifestyle practices are on all levels. She has studied many different forms of yoga such as Vinyasa, Yoga therapy, prenatal yoga, Ayurveda, Iyengar yoga, Yin Yoga, and Yoga Nidra. Her classes blend a moderate paced flow linking breath and movement as well as poses and practices that work with the subtle body. Elizabeth views yoga as a healing experience and her classes can accommodate all-levels.
Kristen's passion for movement began as a child with dance. She studied all styles, and as a young adult, became passionate about African-based dance. A solid yoga practice accompanied her dance studies and felt like a parallel journey. Her classes are physical, involve inspiring music, and weave in powerful yoga philosophy. Kristen has taught the Novato High Boys Lacrosse Team, golfers and tennis players at Marin Country Club, and dancer of Marin School of the Arts. She is in the process of receiving her advance 500-hour yoga Teachers Training. Kristen’s class builds strength, balance and flexibility in the body; and a deeper sense of calm, peace and self-acceptance in the mind and heart.
After many years of studying as a classically trained opera singer, musician, and composer, Dana sees yoga practice and teaching as an art form. She is known for her soulful and creative Vinyasa classes. Each class with Dana features fun, sweaty sequences, great hands on assists, spiritual teachings, music, and meditation. Dana began practicing Bikram and Baptiste-style Vinyasa practices in 2003. She currently studies with master teachers Lesley Desaulniers from the Jivamukti Yoga tradition, and Nubia Teixeira from the Bhakti tradition. Yoga practice has transformed Dana’s life, and she is dedicated to helping others and sharing her passion for yoga.
In the early 2000s Jessica was a stressed out east coast transplant living in San Francisco. She discovered yoga and it immediately and profoundly changed her life for the better. Now a California girl through and through, Jessica has been a devoted Yoga teacher and student for over ten years. She strives to help students become more grounded and discover compassion for themselves and others. Jessica’s challenging and joyful Vinyasa classes reflect her spiritual journey towards health and harmony and feature unique sequencing, upbeat music, hands on assists and skillful alignment instruction.
Chrys Johnson is a NorCal native passionate about daily Yoga and Mindfulness practice. He teaches from an existential mindset and encourages students to start here, now by accepting and working with what is present. Chrys leads from a place of genuine interest in the human experience and enjoys uncovering humor amidst life's constant change and paradox.
With over a dozen years of yoga practice, I have come to understand and appreciate how yoga promotes balance and healing in the body, clarity in the mind, and spiritual growth. I can’t help but want to share what I have learned, and continue to learn, about this incredible discipline with others! Through flowing intentionally with the body, mind and breath, I encourage students to experience peace, freedom and their innate wholeness, and bring those experiences out of the yoga studio and into the world. After living and studying yoga on both coasts, I currently reside back in my native Marin County with my wonderful husband, Jess. I am so grateful to him and all of my teachers for their love, support and inspiration.
